ATLANTA, GA (January 3, 2006) – The American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, Inc. (AAOHN) will hold its annual Symposium & Expo on May 5-12, 2006, in Albuquerque, N.M. With more than 1,500 occupational and environmental health nurses and more than 100 exhibitors attending, AAOHN’s 2006 Annual Symposium & Expo will be the premier educational and networking event for the occupational and environmental health profession.
"Every year the Symposium & Expo provides occupational and environmental health nurses the opportunity to get together to learn and share information on the topics that matter most to our profession," said AAOHN President Susan Randolph. "We invite attendees to take advantage of the number of resources available at the event, including guest speaker sessions, workshops, lunch & learns and exhibitor information."
As the largest conference for occupational and environmental health professionals, the Symposium & Expo will provide attendees with a wide variety of vendors showcasing the latest developments in scientific research, business resources, pharmaceuticals, equipment, supplies and medical technology. A comprehensive schedule of 124 workshops and educational programs will provide ample opportunity for attendees to broaden their professional and personal lives in a relaxed and festive atmosphere as well as network with more than 1,500 of their peers.
In addition, informative and inspirational speaking sessions will be held daily by experts in the industry. Pre-Symposium educational sessions will be offered from Saturday, May 6 until Symposium Proper begins on Tuesday, May 9. On May 10 the Catherine Dempsey lecture will be given by Dr. Bonnie Rogers, an internationally recognized expert on occupational health and safety issues. Dr. Rogers will focus on environmental health risks and the occupational and environmental health nurse’s role in risk mitigation, risk communication and risk management.
