American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN) Hosts Conference; Experts to Showcase Current Workplace Health and Safety Trends

ATLANTA (April 16, 2003) – More than 3,000 occupational and environmental health professionals from around the world will convene in Atlanta next month for the annual American Occupational Health Conference (AOHC) to learn about current workplace health and safety trends, including updates on infectious diseases like Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and Hepatitis C, as well as innovative ways to reduce health care costs and increase productivity in the workplace.

John Henshaw, the assistant secretary of labor and administrator of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will keynote this year’s joint session.

"Employers today are faced with a host of health and safety challenges ranging from employee exposure to infectious diseases, workplace violence issues, health-related absenteeism, or even the threat of a potential workplace terrorism attack," said AAOHN President Deborah V. DiBenedetto. "Our goal with AOHC is to provide occupational and environmental health professionals with the knowledge, skills and resources they need to manage these and other key issues affecting the workplace."

In its 60th year, AAOHN is a 10,000-member professional association dedicated to advancing and maximizing the health, safety, and productivity of domestic and global workforces by providing education, research, public policy, and practice resources for occupational and environmental health nurses.
