AAOHN ANNOUNCES DEBUT OF THE CONFERENCE FOR LEADERSHIP ADVANCEMENT

Re-branded Conference of Leaders maintains core values while broadening leadership competencies

ATLANTA (July 31, 2006) — The American Association of Occupational Health Nurses, Inc. (AAOHN) will hold its annual Conference for Leadership Advancement, formerly Conference of Leaders, in Long Beach, Calif., September 13-15, 2006. With a unique program designed to prepare occupational and environmental health nurses, occupational health and safety professionals, and other nursing professionals for today and tomorrow’s leadership challenges, AAOHN’s Conference for Leadership Advancement is the occupational health industry’s must-attend, two day event for learning and networking.

"This year, we’ve revamped our program agenda to focus on today’s rapidly changing business environments and the health and safety needs of workforces," said AAOHN President Susan Randolph. "We will continue to share leadership solutions for chapter leader development, while also emphasizing opportunities to gain broader leadership competencies that can be applied to organizational and business environments."

A comprehensive schedule of keynote speakers, educational sessions and networking receptions will provide attendees ample opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and interaction with leading business professionals. Highlights at this year’s conference include an opening address from Barb Maxwell, MHA, RN, COHN-S, CCM, CWCP, Division Director Company Care Occupational Service, HCA - West Florida Division, which will start a full day of concurrent sessions focusing on volunteer leadership. Second day activities will highlight leadership competencies necessary to succeed in a business setting.

Occupational and environmental health nurses, occupational health and safety professionals, case managers, and other nursing professionals are encouraged to take advantage of this unique two-day program to learn from the best in the industry, network with peers, and earn up to 18 continuing nursing education credits.
