AAOHN INTRODUCES NEW SAFETY SERIES OF
FOUNDATION BLOCKS PRODUCT

ATLANTA — The American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN) has developed a new series of Foundation Blocks to provide occupational health and safety professionals with the knowledge and resources necessary to develop and implement comprehensive workplace safety programs. The safety series will be available in September 2003.

All Foundation Blocks can be purchased and conveniently downloaded from the AAOHN Web site at www.aaohn.org/marketplace/foundation_blocks.cfm. Each series features subject-specific modules with information, templates and tools on topics essential to occupational and environmental health and safety professionals. The new safety series includes:

  • Conducting a Safety Walk-Through – A step-by-step facility inspection checklist/audit that covers all elements from safety standards to demographics/culture, PPE or safety and health hazard indicators.
  • Safety Action Plan Template for General Industry/Manufacturing Setting – A broad overview of a manufacturing safety program; with suggestions for appropriate actions, relevant departments and individuals for accomplishment of the actions, and documentation or behaviors needed to demonstrate compliance.
  • OSHA General Industry Standards Assessment Form – An at-a-glance reference and tracking system for the OSHA general industry standards and the basic program components required for compliance.

Founded in 1942, AAOHN is a 10,000 member professional association dedicated to advancing the health, safety and productivity of domestic and global workforces by providing education, research, public policy and practice resources for occupational and environmental health nurses. These professionals are the largest group of health care providers serving the worksite.
