Hazard Preparedness
 
Whether natural, biological, chemical, infectious or man-made emergencies or disasters, the occupational and environmental health nurse (OHN) is a key player in all-hazard preparedness, possessing the skills, knowledge and experience to develop, manage, and implement an all-hazard preparedness program in the workplace and the larger community. As a member of the emergency or disaster response planning team, as well as one of the first-line responders, the OHN performs multi-levels of response, in the planning process and in the emergency event or disaster itself. Collaboration and coordination with community groups is imperative.
