Electing highly qualified, engaged, skilled, enthusiastic members to serve on the AAOHN Board of Directors is critical to our association's continued success, growth, and development.
Nominations are being sought for the following positions:
President-Elect Term: 2027-2029: The President-Elect shall automatically succeed to the office of President after a two-year term, in the absence of the President assume the duties of the President, assume other duties assigned by the bylaws, governance policies or Board of Directors and succeed to the office of President under provisions in Sections 7A (bylaws) in event of a vacancy of that office. To be eligible for President Elect, candidates must have served a minimum of (2) years as a Director within the preceding (5) years.
Secretary Term: 2027-2029: The Secretary shall be responsible for the integrity of the Board’s documents. The Secretary shall serve for two years or until a successor has been elected and assumes office. To be eligible for Secretary, candidates must have served a minimum of (2) years as a Director within the preceding (5) years.
Director (3) Term: 2027-2030: AAOHN is seeking Director candidates for the following representations: one (1) West region, one (1) East region and one (1) At-Large (no geographic requirements) to be elected. Terms of office begin at the conclusion of the 2027 annual business meeting.
The AAOHN Leadership Succession Committee will review every application with the goal of developing a qualified slate of candidates.
Eligibility of Candidates
- To be eligible for election as a Director a nominee must be an Active or Life Member, in accordance with the AAOHN Bylaws, in the region (if applicable) for which they are being nominated.
- To be eligible for election as President-Elect or Secretary, a nominee must have served a minimum of two (2) years as a member of the Board of Directors within the preceding five (5) years.
- The nominee is able and willing to commit the necessary time and resources to serve effectively in the position for which he/she is nominated. Board members are allowed two absences from board meetings per year.
- Nominees will be contacted personally by the Leadership Succession Committee Chair to clarify information that could cause disqualification.
- A candidate can run for only one position per election year.
- In cases of a nominee’s potential conflict of interest, the issue will be resolved by the Leadership Succession Committee with the concurrence of the Board.

Self-nominations are encouraged and all nominees are asked to submit the following:
- Candidate application
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) or resume
- One (1) letter of support from employer
- Photo - headshot to be included with the ballot (digital format)
- Candidate Statement to be included with the ballot. Must be 500 words or less. (Word doc preferred)
