Mission Statement

AAOHN elevates all occupational and environmental health professionals to advance accessible, person-centered, and equitable, high-quality health care for diverse communities through evidence-based practice, education, advocacy, research and leadership across a variety of point of care delivery settings.

Strategic Plan

The Strategic Plan of AAOHN is a disciplined effort to produce fundamental decisions and actions that shape and guide what the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses is, what it does and why it does it, all with a focus on the future.

The Executive Board along with Executive Management develops a long-term mission and a short-term plan to address the needs of the OHN community. This plan establishes goals over a period of years that assumes the organization will need to respond to a dynamic, changing environment. View the strategic plan.

AAOHN Access and Engagement Statement

As an association representing occupational and environmental health professionals who care for worker populations across all settings, the American Association of Occupational Health Nurses (AAOHN) affirms the value of every individual and welcomes participation from nurses with a wide range of personal and professional experiences. AAOHN is committed to fostering a professional community where all members are treated with fairness, respect, and integrity.

AAOHN encourages engagement from members across different roles, practice settings, geographic regions, and career stages. All members are welcome to apply for volunteer opportunities that support the mission of the association.

AAOHN’s leadership makes decisions thoughtfully and strategically to ensure that its actions align with the mission and long-term goals of the association. The Board of Directors is dedicated to conducting its work in a manner that is professional, impartial, and focused on serving the needs of the occupational and environmental health professionals’ community.
