Course Description:
According to the American Diabetes Association (ADA), more than 38 million Americans (11.6% of the U.S. population) are living with diabetes, with 1.2 million new diagnoses each year. Workers with diabetes face challenges in disease management that directly affect attendance, productivity, safety, and long-term employability. Attendees of this webinar will leave equipped with the latest knowledge on treatment modalities, prevention strategies, and evidence-based educational resources for employees and their families.
Learning Objectives:
1. Analyze current evidence-based treatment regimens for patients with Type I and Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) to identify implications for occupational health practice.
2. Evaluate the use of technology, including continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) and insulin delivery devices, in managing and treating diabetes in the workplace.
3. Examine evolving diabetes care standards and pharmacologic advances (e.g., GLP-1 receptor agonists, SGLT2 inhibitors) and their impact on employee health outcomes.
4. Apply evidence-based strategies to support diabetic self-management behaviors among employees.
Learning Outcomes:
At the end of the activity, 80% of learners will report an increase of knowledge on the implications of diabetes in the occupational setting, including its impact on total worker health, safety, productivity, and fitness for work.
